Resource Descriptions [Food, Civics and Ores]
Resource Descriptions of World Realism
Fish: prevents famine and can increase army size.
Cattle: prevents famine and can increase army size.
Crops: prevents famine and can increase army size.
Any different food sources combined allow you to muster a larger army.
20% of colony population is the default army size.
25% when you combine 2 different food sources.
30% when you combine 3 different food sources.
Iron: used to make swords, increasing your combat strength by 10 at all times.
Gold: can turn the province into any other resource type.
Sulfur: useful only in combination with Iron or Crops.
Horses: used to train cavalry, increasing your combat strength by 10 when attacking.
Friendly Natives: lowers Native rebellion dice roll (casualty roll) by 2.
Wood: increases the maximum size of your navy and build wooden forts, increasing your combat strength by 5 when defending a province you own.
Stone: used to build churches, which allows you to use the Religious Conversion action, and stone forts, which increase your combat strength by 10 when defending a province you own.
Combining certain resources gives you more benefits:
Iron + Sulfur: allows you to manufacture muskets, increasing your combat strength by 20 at all times (doesn't stack with swords)
Wood + Stone: allows you to build advanced forts, increasing your combat strength by 20 when defending a province you own. (doesn't stack with wood and/or stone forts)
Fish + Wood: Fishing boats; increases your population growth by 5 percentage points each roll.
Horses + Cattle: Mules; increases your population growth by 5 percentage points each roll.
Sulfur + Crops: Fertilizer; increases your population growth by 5 percentage points each roll.
