The Ottoman Empire's Colonial Government (Faction Overview)
Background:
Many suns ago was it that the Ottoman Empire had known of the New World, as well as it's riches. However, the Sultan at the time, Selim I was uninterested in the New World, and instead focused on calming rebellion at home. Once Selim I died, Suleiman I took over, beginning his reign as the Sultan to bring the Ottoman Empire into it's golden age. Named after King Solomon, Suleiman would come to put down the rebellions that Selim I had failed to and send expeditions to the New World. After a success landing in Kuzey Er, Suleiman quickly expanded to Güney Yeri, where there was an abundance of fish, which would allow the colonies to feed themselves. However, Güney Yeri was a blessing and a curse, as the natives soon began attacking, ferociously. Suleiman famously described them as "Starving, rabid dogs, foaming from their mouths ready for the next meal of human flesh." Suleiman left 1000 soldier to hopefully help defend Güney Yeri, and expanded yet again to Orta Yeri, a peaceful colony which would bridge the gap between Güney Yeri and Kuzey Er. The successful expansion began the age the Ottoman's call "Koloni Çağı."
Suleiman saw the New World as a place for all classes, the rich, the poor, and everything in between. However, he also saw certain colonies as the perfect prison for the scum of the last rebellion. Suleiman decided to dump the traitors in the most ferocious of the colonies, Güney Yeri. Here they would suffer for their acts of treason ten fold. The other two colonies however were made up of mostly middle-class citizens of the Empire. Of course each of them had their fair share of upper-class gentlemen, but these gentlemen were greatly outnumbered by the other classes. Most of the people who had volunteered to live in the colonies saw it as a way to better themselves by owning more land. Some of them would do just that, while most simply lived a more miserable life in the colonies.
This brings us to now. Suleiman has three established colonies in the New World, and knows that he must act fast as many others have already landed there as well. We'll see if he treats this is a simple and-grab skirmish, or as a threat to his empire never seen before. It's up to him to show our glory above all others. Süleyman bizi çoban!
